Manto trailer: The two minute clip is enough to bowl you over!

Amongst some much awaited upcoming movies is Manto, starring the multitalented actor Nawazuddin Siddique. The promotional material has already started surfacing as we saw the trailer release yesterday.

The film puts light on the life of a well known poet and writer Saadat Hassan Manto and portrays some highlights of the famous writer. The Nandita Das directional has highly been looked forward to ever since the film’s first look was unveiled.

The much discussed film has already been picked for Cannes Film Festival and also for Toronto International Film festival even before its release. So, one can say that the Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer will definitely be a success.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays role of Saadat Hassan Manto, who was often questioned for his work. The film’s trailer is finally on the show and even with the first look, we can say that it was, without any doubt, worth waiting. In the start of the video, we see Manto, portrayed by Nawazuddin, standing in a packed courtroom and inquiring that why one cannot show the truth as it is. Manto further puts in plain words that his stories are just a reflection of the society’s attitude and behaviour.

The trailer further dips into Manto’s viewpoint and the way he wrote about his female characters. It is known that Manto was time and again charged with obscenity mainly because he was resolute and firm for putting on view a true picture of the society. In the trailer, Manto is told that if he wishes to have liberty for writing then he must make himself aware of the duty of a writer. But, Manto believed that the truth should not be hidden and must be told even if it makes anyone uncomfortable. The movie will be hitting the screens on September 21.
