The 2018 Pakistan general elections are just around the corner and there is a wave of excitement and anticipation all over the country. People are speculating anxiously which party is going to come in power in Pakistan and eventually who will be the next prime minister of Pakistan.

Pakistan has many popular parties right now with thousands of supporters including Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf, Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and a few others.

10. Syed Mustafa Kamal

Syed Mustafa Kamal was born on 27th December 1971. He is a beloved Pakistani politician and is the founder and leader of his party Pak Sarzameen Party but was previously a part of MQM. He has served as a senator and also was chosen as the mayor of Karachi. He made Karachi flourish and is remembered for all his developments in the city, which lead him to be nominated at World Mayor Price in 2010. Being a man with numerous talents he also served as the IT Minister for the Sindh province from 2003 to 2005.

9. Hamza Shahbaz Sharif

Muhammad Hamza Shahbaz Sharif was born on 6th September 1974. He is a popular Pakistani politician who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, from June 2008 till May 2018. He is particularly popular for all his developments in Punjab especially Lahore. He came into Politics in October 1999 when then president Pervez Musharraf sentenced Shahbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif into exile after the 1999 Pakistani coup d’état. However he was allowed to stay in the country to look after family business.


8. Sheikh Rasheed

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad was born on 6th November 1950. He was born in Rawalpindi, and completed his early education from Gordon College and then studied Bachelors of Law at the University of Punjab. He also has the honour of being the leader of the student union at Gordon College. Lahore. He is a prominent Pakistani politician and also the currently the leader of the Political party Awami Muslim League. He has also been an important part of the National Assembly of Pakistan from the year 1985 to 2018.

7. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Bilawal Zardari was born 21 September 1988. He is a Pakistani politician who Is currently the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was born in Karachi and is the eldest and only son of Pakistan’s first female Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari, who has also been a President of Pakistan. He has spent most of his time in Dubai and then London. He got his formal education from Oxford University where he studied General and British History.


6. Maryam Nawaz

Maryam Nawaz Sharif was born on 28 October 1973. She is also known as Maryam Safdar. She is a Pakistani politician who is the daughter of thrice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif. She was born in Lahore and is the political heiress of her father Nawaz Sharif. She entered politics in 2012, and became in charge of Nawaz Sharif election campaign during the year 2013. She also has the privilege if being appointed as the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.

5. Asif Ali Zardari

Asif Ali Zardari was born on 26 July 1955. He is a Pakistani politician and the previous leader of Pakistan People’s Party. He is the son of Hakim Ali Zardari, who was a landowner from Sindh. Zardari was married to Benazir Bhutto and rose to power after his marriage in 1987. He then became the First Man who’s his wife was elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1988. He served as the 11th President of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013, the first president born after Partition.


4. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

ShahidK haqan Abbasi was born on 27 December 1958. He is a Pakistani politician who was the 18th Prime Minister of Pakistan from August 2017 till May 2018. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was completed his education from Lawrence College, Murree. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s degree from George Washington University. Before he entered politics, he worked as a professional engineer in different projects in the United States as-well as the Middle East.

3. Shahbaz Sharif

Mian Shahbaz Sharif was born on 23 September 1951. He is Pakistani politician who has served as a Chief Minister of Punjab, beginning from June 2013 till May 2018.He is an important member of the Sharif family and was also elected in Punjab Provincial Assembly in 1988, and finally the National Assembly in year 1990. However Shahbaz was again elected to the Punjab Assembly in the year 1993 and his popularity caused him to be named the leader of opposition. 2. Shah Mehmood Qureshi

Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Hussain Qureshi was born on 22 June 1956. He is a Pakistani politician who currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He was born in Murree, Punjab. He studied at Aitchison College and completed his B.A. from Forman Christian College and M.A. from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He has been a essential part of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2002 to May 2018. Moreover he also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan from the year 2008 to 2011.
