Pakistan General Election 2018 which is to be held on the 25th of July 2018 has definitely got people all over Pakistan excited and all geared up. Moreover, the political parties are also gearing up to compete with each other for the provincial and national assembly seats.

Political analysts are bringing forward their expected results and making suggestions. It is all the news channels are reporting these days and what every single talk show host is debating about. Overall a tough competition is expected in the General Election 2018 among different political parties.

10. All Pakistan Muslim League

All Pakistan Muslim League also called APML is a Pakistani political party, which was founded by Pervez Musharraf in the year 2010. The launching ceremony of the party was held in London, United Kingdom however the central secretariat of All Pakistan Muslim League is located in Islamabad, Pakistan. Syed Pervez Musharraf was also the former president of Pakistan and his governance stayed for nine years from the year 1999 to 2008. 9. Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)

The Pakistan Awami Tehreek commonly known as PAT literally means Pakistan People’s Movement in English and is a political party in Pakistan, which was founded by Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. It also took part in the general elections in 1990 and 2002. The party claims to have an equal participation of the youth, women, farmers, traders, employees and minorities and all the work that they have done for Pakistan has been based on the ideology of uniting Pakistanis at home and all those living abroad.

8. Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP)

Pak SarZameen Party was founded by Syed Mustafa Kamal on Pakistan day 23rd March in Clifton Karachi. Syed Mustafa Kamal has also been a former mayor of Karachi who was much loved by the citizens of Karachi due to all the work he did to beautify the city. Because Syed Mustafa Kamal was a member of the Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan earlier, he is often criticized by MQM of being a part of ISI, Indian Agent or Pakistan Army.

7. Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F)

Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) is a Sunni Deobandi political party in Karachi. It was founded in 1919 in the British India by an active Deobandi. It is currently lead by its leader Maulana Fazal-Ur- Rehman.JUI-F is as of the year 2013, Pakistan’s 5th largest party, winning with 3.2% of the popular vote, and 15 out of 272 general seats in the National Assembly. The party is mostly based in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern parts of Baluchistan. It is also believed to be in coalition with Pakistan’s current ruling party Pakistan Muslim League (N).

6. Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM)

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan was founded by Altaf Hussain and Azeem Ahmed Tariq in 1984. It was initially called All Pakistan Muhajir Student Organization (APMSO) A student organization founded by Altaf Hussain in 1978 at Karachi University, but was later changed. The party has kept its influence over Pakistan’s federal government as an important coalition partner since the late 1980s including years from 1988-1990, 1990-1992, 2002-2007 and 2008-2013. It is predominantly popular in the Sindh area including Karachi and Hyderabad.

5. Awami National Party (ANP)

Awami National Party is a Pashtun Nationist Political Party in Pakistan. It was founded in 1986 by Abdul Wali Khan. The political base of the party depends of the Pashtuns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and those of northern Balochistan. The Current president is Asfand yar Wali Khan, who is the grandson of Bacha Khan. AndTajuddin Khan is currently serving as the Secretary-General for the party. The party claims to support democratic socialism, secularism, economic egalitarianism, and Pashtun nationalism and also believes to promote non-violent solutions to extremism and terrorism.

4. Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JIP)

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan is a religious and socially conservative political party in Pakistan. Jamaat-e-Islami was founded on 26 August 1941, at The Islamia Park, Lahore even before the Partition of India. It was founded by Maulana Amin Ahsan Islahi, Maulana Naeem Siddiqui, Maulana Muhammad Manzoor Naumanai and MaulaAbul Hassan Ali Nudvi and Syed Abul Ala Maududi. The party aims in the conversion of the state of Pakistan into an Islamic state governed by the Sharia law and strongly opposes capitalism, communism, liberalism, socialism and secularism and bank interests.

3. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)

Pakistan Peoples Party was founded in Lahore on November 30 and December 01, 1967 by the members of the Pakistan Socialist Party. And Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was elected the Chairman. The party claims to value supporting public ownership, egalitarianism, equality, and a strong national defence. Since its formations the Pakistan People Party has been brought into power at five different years including 1970, 1977, 1988, 1993 and 2008 and it was mainly the dominating party in the 1970s. However after the death of Benazir Bhutto in 2007 the party’s popularity has deteriorated over the years.

2. Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N)

The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) is believed to be a center-right conservative party in Pakistan. The party was led by Nawaz Sharif and President ‎Shehbaz Sharif.
